I am about to head out the door to work my New Year's Eve mission. I am going to be pulling an all-nighter, although not like most would think. I will be sitting behind a computer screen waiting for nothing to happen, which would actually make it a good night. I work with a group of folks that try to keep the event safe, and sometimes sitting in that room things get weird. Two years ago we all ended up watching 8 hours of "To Catch a Predator." Really? Why?
Tonight as I continue to train my repacement I still hope for a no-excitement evening. What I will do is reflect on the seriously eventfull 2010, and see if I can push some of it into the history books and leave them there. Other event will stand out in my mind as flagships. For one, my trip to Temecula with Debbie where we decided I should leave the CST and go to school full-time. By the time I leave, it will be a full year since that trip. I also think about how exhausted my body became with all my running, and how careful I need to be with the new goals for 2011. This blog is supposed to be about endurance, right? But is it really only as it relates to a single endurance event?
I welcomed into my life my coach this year, who has not only become my trainer but a close friend and confidant. 2010 saw changes in my doggie status too. We lost Jasmine, one of the most precious and loving yellow labs one could hope to find. She hid in the closet for years, but she was sweet and gentle as they come. As a rescue we werent sure how old she was when we got her, but it was her time. THAT happened in March too. We couldnt leave Daisy without a friend though, so our lives were turned upside down when Diesel came bounding in with his young Golden Retriever energy. And yes, he is alllllll boy! He was an instant match to Daisy and they are inseperable.
My daughter turned 21. As a daddy, I'm not sure what more to say about that. books could be written.
I nearly broke through the 4-hour time for a full marathon.
I got sponsored by HAMMER!
I am short on time. Need to get going. Got a city to save!
See you in 2011.
